The recent wave of deaths of innocent souls for ritual purposes is alarming, with concerned government agencies making little or no attempt to combat the human hunters.

Nigeria has witnessed massive security difficulties, especially since the advent of democracy in 1999. Cybercrimes, vehicle theft, sophisticated fraud, drug smuggling, human trafficking, baby factory syndrome, among others, have continuously posed severe concerns in Nigeria. However, the belief in the existence of supernatural forces and the conduct of ritual sacrifices are critical phenomena that have been part of Nigerian society for decades.

There are monogamous and polygamous households, as well as many family arrangements that are both intact and broken. Parents' words, acts, and beliefs would have a significant impact on youths development, even in infancy (Hedenbro & Rydelius, 2019; Lamb et al., 2002).
