Political parties are critical to the political process in contemporary cultures. In each democratic society, they have evolved into a genuine tool or auxiliary of democracy. Political parties are not only vehicles for the aggregation of interests and the eventual fulfillment of such interests through the control of government; they are also vehicles for the aggregation of interests.

Nigeria, like many other African nations, has had its share of democratic challenges , but it has also made progress throughout time (Ball,1971). In the coming years, there have already been requests throughout the nation for certain changes and improvements in the way political parties are organized and controlled.

A political party is an organized collection of individuals with a unique name and perhaps an abbreviation who recruit, train, and field candidates for election to empty public posts by qualified electorates through the constitutional methods of periodic election

In Nigeria, it would appear that women have never really tested power in the realm of Nigerian politics. However, literature abounds showing women’s participation in politics. The place of women in politics during the pre-modern period is sufficiently familiar. The exploits of legendary women like QUEEN Aminat of Zauzau, Iyalode Efunsetan Aniwura of Ibadan, princes Inikpi of Igala and Emotan of Benin reality come to mind .
