Abstract

The global spread of the English Language has given rise to varieties of the language. In looking at what a variety is, Jowitt (1991) has defined a variety as:
… one of the many general and complete language systems, each used by a substantial number of people and each possessing characteristics that
distinguish it from other systems without requiring it to be classified as a different language.
